Koehl Bros. Enlists ICE Intern

February 1, 2016— FAIRBURY, IL : Brock Honegger, a senior at Prairie Central High School, has joined the team at Koehl Bros. as support staff to the design and construction team. Brock is able to work half-days through the Illinois State Board of Education’s Interrelated Cooperative Program (ICE) while competing his final year of high school.

The ICE program allows students to further studies in select career pathways through work-site learning. There are 81 nationally recognized pathways within 16 clusters, including Brock’s choice Architecture & Construction. These pathways prepare students for a full range of secondary and post-secondary education options.

Brock is interested in Autocad design work, but his high school has limited offerings. By partnering with Koehl Bros, Brock will be able to work, hands-on, with real-time design and construction tasks while earning credit for graduation. His primary role within the design team is to support the senior designers with detail work and preliminary grain system layout design. Previous to Koehl Bros., Brock worked at BCS Soil Sampling. He plans to continue his education at Heartland Community College.

Koehl Bros. was founded in 1946 and has grown into the Midwest’s leading millwright firm for the grain industry. Koehl’s design/build solutions, industry experience and dedication to value have built many strong relationships over the years, thus fueling the increased need for a full spectrum service team. Koehl offers complete design and layout engineering, tower dryer and manlift service, fully stocked parts inventory, elevator renovation, machinery upgrades, crane services and full service millwright work including installation, repair and custom fabrication.
